I know this next word may ruin the top coin for most of you but it is stuck in my brain...why such a phallic design for the reverse? Rockets are inherently that way but somehow they managed to make the space capsule that way as well!
There was also a gold coin produced for this 2003 commemorative set. The coin obverse depicts the "Shavit" rocket. Each coin showcases a different satellite on the reverse. For the gold, the Eros Satellite is pictured; the 1 Sheqel silver shows the Ofeq Satellite; the 2 Sheqalim shows the Amos Satellite. These aren't merely an artist's conceptual renderings, but actual satellites placed in orbit. I love the designs of modern Israeli coins, especially their commemoratives. This is probably the start of a new sub-collection.
Finally found one of these to my liking..........so many I've come across have been either cleaned or damaged.
I just got this very special coin today! As it turned out, it was given to me as a special offer. [<< Being a member of the Sierra Club will cost you less than a NICKLE a day! >>] They were giving this to me for FREE just to become a member. LOL @ Them! ... I'm ALREADY a member. ... HA!HA!HA!
This came in from my awesome Wife: And this I bought myself, It’s a nice XF40 with a green CAC, and my earliest H10 so far. It came from David Lawrence at a great price. @Paddy54
A) Awesome wife indeed! B) Lovely original H10C. I love the early seated design... wish they had left it alone all the way til 1860.
Thanks, she’s the best!! I agree with you, I love the early design. I’m glad I have the book, I also have Valentine’s book that I won at auction for a dollar!
That book is a great tool, well worth it's cost if you are considering collecting seated half dimes, or just like to have the reference and history. Yes there are other books most out of print and hard to find for personal reference.
Man, the sellers image is bad. I would never consider this coin to have any full steps from that picture. In fact, I would assume it was a well worn coin.
