I'll say NGC MS 65 *, For PCGS MS 64. The 1880-S has to be a real knockout for high grades. The mark on the cheek is problematic for me. Having said all of that, it certainly has eye appeal. I suspect your coin looks even nicer in hand.
This is one of the 20 ANA morgans I picked up a few days ago. IMO it has a very good chance of regrading at the 66PL level. My camera really picks up and magnifies the slightest disturbance...in hand you can see that the "hits" on the cheek actually aren't hits at all, just breaks in the frost (all except the one directly above the neck/jaw line. that is the only actual hit on the cheek). This one will be staying with me and probably going along with my next submission.
Nice coin, I agree with Jack though, I don't see the PL, but I could be wrong, and it could be just the pics. Very lustrous for sure though! :thumb: Phoenix
Thanks for the comments. I guess I'm having a hard time capturing the toning and the mirrors at the same time. The PL is all there...does this new set help?
DJ I hate to say it but I doubt that coin would be slabbed by NGC or PCGS. Based on the pics, I don't think that's toning at all. It looks like old dried up lacquer that has yellowed and begun flaking off.
