I'm thinking GOD gave you a bump. Now she had money for popcorn and goodies. Way to go brother. You knocked some of that stress right out of the ballpark
My cash register drawer is made up of old PCGS blue boxes. So go ahead and drop away and I will be looking for it.
Hey Thanx Cheech. I'm not sayin WHO have me the bump, but I just hate seeing people all bummed out. When I drove truck, this driver behind me at the fuel desk made a comment about this Harley shirt I had on because it had cool jets flyin around. Said it was like the only thing his 10 year old son was into. The boy has down syndrome and just gravitated towards jets. I could tell being out on the road and being away from his son was bumming him out, so I just took my shirt off and gave it to him for his son. It's not a big deal. Just a shirt with a picture on it. Even tho it was my favorite HD shirt at least it might put a smile on that boys face. And I could tell that by the look on his dad's face, that it might just do that.........go figure.........life
I released three more buffalo nickels and a Barber dime into the wild just a few minutes ago. Still waiting for some to show up here.
Never in a million years would I have thought to have said this, but I kinda want to go back working retail behind a cash register lol.
Apparently a local radio talk show featured the GACH this morning. I have had two of my employees come in and ask me about it. So this thing must be gaining traction.
My local coin club budgeted $100.00 to buy $1.00 Silver Certificates (Circulated), Ike dollars, and partial date Buffalos. A dealer member sold at his cost to the club. Each member received 1 Silver Certificate, 1 Ike, and 4 Buffalos to return to the wild this week. Everyone took an oath to spend the free package. I have already released mine into circulation. A press release was donated by the local paper. It’s National Coin Week and the time for those SCCC members who received the package of currency and coins to spend release these items into circulation. There was a front page article in the Sidney Daily announcing this and those who are looking for special currency and coins will be on the lookout for this to happen. What a good way to promote the Numismatic hobby!!!
Couldn't help myself..... According to the map, there is nobody in my area of NE releasing anything, so will be going thru my pile and judiciously putting coins out there.
Setting aside the following from my small "hoard" to release into the wild: 50 Wheaties, 30 IHCs, 10 Steelies (that's all I have!), 60 V Nickels, 60 Buffalo Nickels, 30 Mercury Dimes. So far, I dropped a few in a Walmart parking lot and hid some in the kids' section of Walmart (under boxes of glitter makeup, or easy bake ovens, or with the baseball mits, etc.). I have also been feeding Buffs, Mercs and V Nickels in the coin return of our candy and soda machines at work. I wonder who is finding them, and what they're thinking! I also created two little baggies for one of my co-workers to give to his two kids (he has a collection, and has tried to spark interest in them, though they are young, yet), with a little write-up of the different coins I put in each bag. I don't use cash much, so it's going to be hard to spend all of this! So, I'm trying different things. I'll spend some. But, if I can't get rid of this stuff during this week, I'll be sure to slowly keep dumping them into circulation until they're all gone. Happy hunting, everyone! Actually, more than anything, I'm hoping some parents are allowing their kids to find all these coins (across the country) in pocket change, or whatever, and helping them learn about these old coins!
Need to be creative in how to get these out there, since I don't really use cash much! Might also drop a few on the sidewalk at corners where kids wait for the school buses. If they look away from their phones, maybe they'll find something fun!

[/QUOTE] That's a great idea. I think I'll do the same as they will most likely be found by children and those children will announce their find to parents and other bystanders.
Yea isn't that exciting! I think I'll do the same. I'll take a handful of my wheaties up to the bus stop when I pick my grandkids today.
Flying across the country tomorrow. Going to drop some Aussie pennies and buffalo nickels on my travels.
Man, there isn't an indicater within at least 150 miles from me here in podunk Altoona! I should have known. So if anyone flies over Pa, please drop some coins. I almost said "drop something " but I didn't want to leave myself open like that. LMAO
