Unknown coin

    I recently acquired a gold colored coin that resembles a half dollar but I can't find any information about it anywhere, I'm going to attach a picture of the coin(both sides) and I am hoping someone can give me some input on where and when its from. Thank you in advance for any info

    The design is based upon a Morgan dollar. And it is actually quite a close match to a Morgan's design. No earthly idea what the cross is representative of. However it is a safe assumption that it is a privately struck piece and not issued by the US mint. It certainly does pique my interest.

    Speculation from my side ... My knowledge of American coins are extremely limited.

    It's definitely some kind of private token issue, as @Randy Abercrombie mentioned, and almost certainly not a product of the US Mint. It is, however, quite interesting, whatever it is. Obviously it mimics the design of an 1878-1921 USA Morgan dollar, as previously noted.
