That is correct, I have a nice little collection of what are basicly plastic notes LOL Who said money dont stretch
most of my polymers WONT scan. they all have the Euro anti-counterfeiting 'dots' in them. I cannot remember what the special arrangement of donts are called, somethign Euro... somethign lol. Anyhoot.. when i try to scan them, Photoshop will not open them. I cant find a way to open them to post them on my site. even witht he permission of the central reserve bank of the country i am scanning, photoshop WONT let me proceed. very frustrating!
The special arrangement of dots are from the EURion constellation to prevent photocopying of the bills. The new 5 dollar bills have the same anti counterfeiting devise. Small yellow 05's on the left of Lincoln's portrait and to the right on the Lincoln memorial on the reverse. Lou
the new 20's have it as well in the form of the yellow 20's to the left of the note. there are about 6 or so formations in that mix that form the EURion symbol. It was the word EURion i couldnt remember. Thanks! I can understand them trying to thwart counterfeiting .. but its not even denting it! The folks who counterfeit do not use phtoshop or some other cheesy photoediting software like paintshop. they use far more advaced tools. I dont do such activities, so i am not fully aware of what they do use, but all companys like Adobe are doing, is preventing the LEGAL use of images. I think i have devised a way to bypass adobes measures .. if it works i will be happy, as i will be able to legally post the images of my own legally owned notes. from what i understand, there are several, possibly a dozen or more, countries that use the EURion sign in the fabrication of the notes. I am not sure which ones as they dont really advertise it... but, they are out there.
Nice bill. I have a nice crisp 1 quetzal from the pre-polymer days, that I picked up from Guatemala in 1999. (Wow has it really been 9 years?) Besides the poly window and dates the design looks not to have changed much apparently... I also have the 1 quetzal coin that was brand new at the time (has the word "paz" (peace) in a script that wraps around to form the outline of a quetzal.) Seemed like they were proposing to eliminate the note for the coin but apparently that hasn't happened. My 1998 1 quetzal bill: Love how the person honored on the 1 quetzal bill, General Jose Maria Orellana, is mainly honored for being the person who changed Guatemala's currency from the peso to the quetzal. Cetrainly is a catchier name. (The quetzal btw is that bird pictured on the top of the front of the bill, just under "Banco de Guatemala" and above the serial number. Beautiful bird and very hard to spot... actually easier to spot in Costa Rica during some times. The quetzal is also on Guatemala's flag, national seal, etc... as prevalanet a symbol in Guatemala as the bald eagle is in the US.)
Here is an Article i found onthe EURion bit discussed above. Yes, i know, its Wikipedia, but still... it has some interesting bits of info about our paper money.
