I just found 50 Jefferson nickels in my closet, and had forgotten all about them. The dates vary between 1939-1959, what should I look for? Any key dates? Any errors? I don't really know much about nickels....

I'd keep them all, the "keys" for that series IMHO opinion are:

    38 D
    38 S
    39 D
    39 S
    50 D

Keep any war nickels, worth a little bit over a dollar a piece right now I think. Also check for the 1939 P DDR, and if you have a nice loupe, might want to check for RPM's. S mints also are worth a little more over face to the right person. Best of luck. :thumb:

also don't forget about the 1945 ddr and the 1943 DDO Doubled eye, and the 1943/2 P.

Cool, check to see if there is any doubling in the letters on the reverses of the coins, takes a close look, but it could be worth it if there is. ;) Best of luck. :thumb:

Every single letter? Or just the date and "liberty". This is gonna take a while...

Check the words "Monticello" and "Five Cents" for doubling on the reverse, I think those are the places the DDRs for that year are. :thumb:

If you can discern full steps look for:

    1950
    1954S
    1955

Nope, but I have full steps for 1958 and is in about MS65 condition with rainbow toning.....

The 1954 also has a D over S mintmark (or is it S over D?). Either way, it's not worth a whole lot, but an interesting piece to have.

I have a 1954 S, and a 54 D, but none of them are over lapped. How about that full stepped 1958 nickel in MS65 condition with rainbow toning, is it worth anything?

    Probably depends on condition, but ~ $ 50 - 100.
