This seller is claiming that there is a true cheerios millennium penny inside this box of Cheerios. Now, The box could be a reproduction and the card with the 2000 Lincoln cent could be faked. Or this could be an original Cheerios box from the 1999 promotion. Which leads me to ask: Could this be the one in about 4400 boxes or so, to also have the Cheerios Sacajawea Pattern dollar in it?

Most likely it's not going to make anybody rich except the seller if these boxes continue to sell for $61 + $6 S&H
9 bidders. Maybe they think the boxes themselves will be worth a lot of money some day. Or maybe it takes them back to their childhood years when all was warm and cuddly.
Maybe they think that, hey, for $67 bucks I may win a Cheerios Sac $.

    What do you think?

I asked the seller if he's sure the boxes have never been opened. He replied:

Yes on the box it says there was one packed in every 2000 boxes. I'm a Cheerios addict and ate over 30 boxes during this promotion and never got one, just the penny. I saved 8 other boxes because I'm a coin collector and cereal box collector

Well, how can you not believe him!

the box could be unopened and checked if the Sac is in inside with a simple metal detector- the zinc penny and the copper clad Sac are easy to distinguish with one

Touche - so 0.00% chance of a Sac unless the seller is a total idiot.

Exactly what I was thinking. A metal detector could easily tell the owner of these boxes if there were 1 or 2 coins in them.

Good luck bidding, suckers. It'll be an expensive 2000 Lincoln penny if you win. Hey maybe these cheerios pennies will be worth a lot in the sleeves. There's only 10,000,000 of them around and most of them have been removed from the packaging.

It's outside the realm of coins, but there are people who collect cereal boxes. Wheaties boxes seem to be the rage, but something like this might tickle their fancy.

I took a year off from eBay and during that time I can't help but to think this country emptied out it's asylums, put the residents out on the street and set them up with eBay accounts. I come home every night and have to answer 10-12 of some of the dumbest questions I have ever heard in my life.
What is the weight of the box to the hundredth of a gram?
Have I ever had the box x-rayed?
Have I ever used a metal detection device on the box?
Surely nobody could think they are going to get a $25,000 dollar coin in a cereal box auction with a starting bid of $4.99 Was I wrong.
I have eBay Columbo's, Kojak's, McGarrett's etc. harassing me with e-mails written in capital letters about this auction. I just got laid off and I'm emptying out my closet to pay bills.
Is there any mention of a dollar coin in the auction?
You are bidding on a sealed 2000 box of Cheerios with a millenium penny in it. Just what the auction states.
If you thought otherwise please retract your bid. Thank you.

No knock on anyone, but the addendum to the auction is funny
