Alright everyone, yes I know, not a Lincoln, lol. But this is one of my latest purchases, and I want all your opinions. It is a 1969 S Half Dollar, graded by PCGS. So, basically guess the grade you think PCGS gave it (I think it's a little undergraded, but I'm no pro grader) and what grade you give it. Additional comments and all are definetly welcome too. Also, too for the heck of it, guess what I paid for it too, lol. Here it is: (PS, sorry for poor pics, first time trying to take pics through a slab!) Phoenix
Right on !!!! I'd say DCAM and will not attempt to grade it.....it's in plastic yannow.. Cool, I did not know you collected Kennedys..
No correct guesses yet, but close, lol. I can try to attempt at better pics if everyone wants. Keep them coming! Jack, actually, I've had an attraction to them, but never really collected them until this one. I think I might do a set of these, seems like fun. They are nice coins IMO. But, I guess you can say this is the start of my Kennedy set. I'll work a little more one these after I finish my Lincoln set, and maybe go into something else. We'll see I guess! Keep them coming! Phoenix
Anymore opinions? Would y'all like some better pics, cause I can try to get more if you want. Phoenix
Lots of too's ....& I was holding out hope for the new generation & the "educated" youth. Phoenix, you should be able to structure your sentences better....obviously you go to a good school & come from a well to do family. Must be nice to purchase the coins you do at your young age.... Cheers
I'm sorry about that. I'll try to proof read my posts before I post them. I can not believe my horrible grammar in my first post. When I went to re-read it when you pointed it out to me, man. I'm sorry about that. To be honest with you, no, I don't go to school. I'm homeschooled. Yes, it is pretty nice, I find myself pretty fortunate to have some of the coins I do. Except, don't think I'm rich or pay full price for many things, I get many of (most) of my coins cheap. Which I think I got on this coin. Thanks for stopping by and taking a peek. And to be totally honest with you, I'm not sure what you intended with your post, but I take it I guess as helpful critiscm. Phoenix
I've read few of your posts this morning and you have to be one of the most negative people I've ever come across. You have way too many assumptions, (good schools, well to do family, old people with alzheimers, ect, ect). Phoenix21 asked for an opinion about his coin, not a grammar lesson. Did your mother not teach you that if you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all ? As for making assumptions, I'll assume you are out of medication and let it go at that. Just my opinion. John
are you a troll? first you try telling someone what to do with a nice major find of theirs in one thread and then you come in this thread and chastise someone about their sentence structure? and who cares how young he is? does his age really bother you? if he has the means to do it then good for him, applaud and encourage him in his hobby, you dont make snide condescending remarks about his age as if somehow he's too young to collect the coins that he enjoys. far be it from me to tell others what to do but you seem to have this habit of being rather rude to others and i'm getting a bit tired of seeing it, KNOCK IT OFF.
Well, since it seems every one's gotten a bit of a chance, here's the grade! It was graded PCGS Pr-67Cam. :goof: This coin IMHO is atleast a deep cameo, but I could be wrong. The reverse is stunning in hand, the obverse I think is what makes it only a deep cameo. Only imperfections I can see is the nick near JFK's neck, and the two spots on the reverse. But, (here it comes) I think this one, if done correctly, needs a dip. After that, I don't see a problem with it going PR-68 DCAM, but I could be wrong. Just my assesment on the coin. The orignal owner said it was a NGC PR69 DCAM, so I might get lucky. Oh, and the price. Bought it for $10, S&H included. So I think did pretty good. Any advice from anyone? You think it's worth sending in again? BTW, I don't think I'll sell it, it's going into my collection, so money really isn't a big deal with this coin. Thoughts? Thanks for all that replied! Phoenix
personally, phoenix, I would keep it as is. The latest craze among conservors is to uncloud the normally cloudyy clad proof coins. I saw a recent ad for it in Coin World. As with most fads, I think it will be short lived, and nice, original coins will become the rarity and therefore be the more desirable (valuable) in the future. just my 2¢
