I haven't been collecting coins very long but have really caught the bug. I know garage sales, flea markets, and coin shows are about to really take off so I make up a shirt to let everyone know what I'm looking for. I'm going to list them on ebay If this is not posted in the right place I'm sorry. James
Very interesting. Any suggestions? I know a lot of people have coins and don't know what to do with them. I just thought this would be a way to let people know what I'm looking for. James
And they'll be looking to follow you home so they know where to hit that night. It's hard enough keeping your collection secret from bad individuals without advertizing what's stashed away at home.
It would be smart to pack some "legal" heat when going about your business. A CCW is required in most states I believe to conceal a firearm on your person. Just some piece of mind so-to-speak...
Very good advice. Unfortunately I had to resort to using my legal heat at one point. Thankfully I had invested the time and knowledge into obtaining my carry permit.
all of the above posts are very valid! i think the T-shirts (bad typo!!!) is a cool idea! However, please keep the above posts in mind if you do wear it in public. As a suggestion, instead of the word 'buy' maybe use collect? i know the comments above would still apply, but its a bit more amiguitouis ...
I've seen similar shirts around.. what I don't understand is why they are all tacky and over the top. What's wrong with some nonchalant shirts...?
How about , I COLLECT COINS in one line across the top of and smaller line up of the coin images running about the same langth of the statement. Now turn the shirt around and add in smaller print, on the back between your shoulders saying.. Please dont rob me. Then asa a deal for buying the shirt. Make a baseball style cap with I collect coins in small print and a large TARGET on your forhead. that why when you doget robbed, it will be quick and painless.
Just curious.....but I have to ask. Where is it that you live that you constantly are worried about being robbed at gunpoint?? I have lived in New Jersey my whole life, and never been robbed once. The thought doesnt even really cross my mind. I have traveled all over the place, and it hasnt been an issue at all. I stay aware of my surroundings, and dont go where I know I shouldnt. Seems to work for me. Are there police where you live? Are your streets lined with seedy characters waiting to prey on the innocent? I think that the shirts are a good idea. If you are wearing them to flea markets and garage sales, you will be fine. ....if you are walking through the ghetto in the middle of the night, trying to round up some people to sell you thier coins......I would suggest that you be a little more discreet.....:mouth:
I was woundering the same thing. I was wishing that I hadn't even posted them here. Never heard so much negative feedback in such a short period of time. James
Had to chuckle when I read this. A coin dealer/friend of mine has been robbed twice at the flea market where he sets up each weekend. Once at gunpoint on his way to his car and another was a hit and snatch by two youths at his booth. I live in a VERY small farming community in the middle of rural "nowhere" Indiana with a population of 3,000+/-. If a stranger walks within a mile of town everyone knows about it. Heck, we even have cows living in town. Last year there were 7 break-ins (nothing compared to most places) and guess what the was taken each time? You guessed it....coin collections! Just goes to show that no matter where you are at you can never be too safe or too cautious.
