Today its Good Friday, and I am still waiting for snow to melt. Winter started on November 8th, still snow outside. I Wish all a Happy Easter Holiday!
Here's a bunny. I'd say Easter bunny but this coin was made well before the first Easter holiday. SICILY, Messana AR Tetradrachm 480-461 BC 17.21 grams, 25 mm. Obv: Biga of mules (an apene) driven right by charioteer. Nike above crowning mules. Rev: Hare bounding to right. MEΣΣA.ИIOИ around perimeter. (retrograde Ns) Grade: a nicely toned VF coin. Other: Sear 843. SNGANS.314. From Pegasi Jan 2014. The weather in Connecticut today is 23 C (~70 F) partly cloudy with winds gusting. Edit to ad: When our dog is properly groomed she looks a little bit like a bunny hopping around the yard. She has not been clipped since last fall so she is pretty fluffy today. Here she is chasing an Easter egg.
I was waiting for a lovely bunny coin to be posted and here it is! (I have none ) Beautiful coin! Happy Easter Everyone
Here's my Messana from 420-413 BC. It's interesting to look at the archaic vs classical differences between our two coins. Can anyone else help fill in the rest of the stylistic progression?
Happy Easter to all coin-friends. It was snowing here in Mount Lebanon. For decades I didn't witness that snow in mid April. Love the snow.
Happy Easter to All. We just found out that my 8-year old nephew has stopped believing in the Easter Bunny. Apparently someone spilled the beans at school. I still believe though.
We follow the German tradition, make about 24 hard boiled eggs, then colour them. When i was a kid, my parents would have me look for these/ plus chocolate goodies. They would hid them all around the house, lots of fun to find them.
When my son was young we secretly put bunny tracks through the house that ended at an Easter basket full of candy. We used three cotton balls and talcum powder to make the bunny tracks around the house Follow the tracks and BELIEVE IN THE BUNNY.
