I want to send this in to be graded, but not sure it's worth it. But then again, I'm an amateur and I think it's looks really good...I have additional pictures if they would be helpful. I just got a scope and this is the first time I've used it, so apologies if the pics are low quality.
The coin is a genuine strong D. This coin should definitely be submitted before sale. I'm only going from photos, but believe you have a coin that should grade no less than MS62.
Also posted last week (before I bought the new camera)...https://www.cointalk.com/threads/indian-head-quarter-eagles.336037/
I recall seeing that thread and posting to it. If the 1911-D is this good, I think you should grade all of the coins in the set.
Definitely needs to be authenticated and graded. I would defer to @ToughCOINS on the grade, but Id say he's pretty close.
I’m in agreement on it being genuine and uncirculated I’d say 62/3 myself. On a bad day I could see it at 58.
Please get this coin graded. It's the key date and it's in great shape. You may want to consider grading the entire set.
There a slight rub on the cheekbone, but I think the coin could get an MS-62 or 3 grade. My only possible concern would be altered surfaces. These coins have frosty surface, and this one appears to be more on smooth and bright side. That might be due to the fact that the photo was taken through the lucite of the holder. All of the characteristics of a genuine coin, the wire rim on the obverse and the scallops on the top of the reverse, appear to be there.
All of the diagnostics check out. Looks genuine to me. Good luck! And to all of you who say that anything valuable not in a slab must be fake, eat your hearts out.
