I have found three coins and am not sure if they are real or even what they may be. Is anyone willing to help me out a bit with this matter so I know which way to go from here.
Howdy Brackenbury - Welcome to the Forum !! Sure we'll try and help. Can you post pics of the coins ?
Sad to say, but if the others are as genuine as the Continental, my guess is you have about $1.50 worth of "replicas".
When I die I am going to make sure that the people that deal with my things know what is real before they get to excited. But thank you :smile
Welcome to the form. Well one thing to consider are the circumstances surrounding and where the coins were found. You can be sure rare genuine items like these just aren't found lying around on the ground or in a tin can found in a garage. The weight of the items will most probably be found to be considerably less than genuine items due to the metal used in manufacture. Their composition is probably going to be found to be pot-metal: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pot_metal Take Care Ben
Just look at them. Most of us on here have seem countless replicas and counterfits. Three of those sorry to say are just that. The only one i can't say anything for sure about the smallest one with a hole in it. I cant tell what it is. Looks like its from china?
WELCOME TO THE FORUM. By the way don't be discouraged if some or all are not worth millions. It is mostly for fun to collect and at the same time get a little education. For a starter you now have some coins or tokens that may not be worth a lot but it's a start. If fakes, you someday may become the fake expert everyone needs.
