Hello everyone, I have a gold colored 1968 Lincoln coin that is in very good condition. The coin has me a little baffled, as I mentioned it is gold, sticks to a magnet and weights 3.1 grams. Please see attached photos. Your input would greatly appreciated.

    Than, John

Must be plated. Since gold weighs more than twice 90% copper, it would have to be over 6 grams. Yours is in normal range for copper. Jim

  4. Gold cents have little if any value to most diehard coin collectors and may fetch 50 cents to $1 each in the novelty coin market. In sum, gold pennies are not rare. And these gold coins are not made by the U.S. Mint. There are also no “secret” gold pennies or anything like that

I was born in 1968 & a friend had someone dip a penny for me in gold... I have lost it over the years so it may be that one :(
