I will repeat what Fred Weinberg stated in the post before yours.. It's not dated 1882 - it's clearly 1992, but the '8' is flattened a bit, or there might be a die chip in the date, but it was NOT minted in 1882, and the date is NOT 1882... It might LOOK like 1882....but it's not.
That is clearly a 9 just compare it to itself. Look to the right side of the number. The side is straight. On the left, you have a triangular section in the middle, which does *not* exist on the right side, thus differentiating the left side from the right side. Since an 8 is symmetric, and these numbers are asymetric, it just makes perfect sense that those are 9. It just so happens that its not the "9" that you want it to be, but it is the 9 that *they* wanted it to be. One has to look and think in an unbiased way and stop wanting it to be something it is not. Many reasons were listed as to why it would be *impossible* to be 1882, but those are ignored for some reason.
here's a much better, clearer struck, less worn coin, one year later (not 111 years later). of course, this series design, was struck from 1992-1995 https://en.ucoin.net/coin/mexico-1-new-peso-1992-1995/?tid=10421
Clawcoins - I think you got the photo upside down. The way I see it, it's dated 3661, and it's from the Star Trek era of our future.
If you are in Mexico it has a value. I know nothing of foreign currencies values as "collectors" though yours is heavily worn so it would be a low grade. Probably found in pocket change quality.
Hey there people I found the same coin and when I put it under a microscope it is as plain as day 1882
keep in mind they didn't make them in 1882. They started making them in 1992. Think about that. So, maybe don't use the microscope to convince yourself.
Im real late to the party, sorry. But I was looking for I do on the same coin. There's no question in my mind as to when it was minted. It's obviously from 1992 not 1892. But it does appear to be stamped with 1882 or 92. So I think the real question is not when it was minted, we know it's new, but is it worth more for being an error. For instance if a 1992 penny was stamped 1892, it would be a mint error and worth a lot more. No one would be arguing about the year it was actually minted. It's obvious. So same situation here. A 1992 nuevo peso with a minting error should be worth more right? Or is there just no one who cares about these? Here are photos of my coin, a 1992, and a 1998 for comparison https://photos.app.goo.gl/VvG2L1Z6SEeqfyJS6
I'm holding a 1932 one in my hand right now. And will post a picture if it once I figure out how to do that. So obviously I they made them far before 1992..
