There is a line that is at the base of The L goes through the O to the top of the C in the word Block. The line is in the center of the letter O and not on the edges of the O. Is this considered an error? Thank you.
Because the lettering is incused, based on your photos only, it's a scratch on the coin, across the recessed lettering. The coin is lit too much - a very small chance it's a die gouge, but I doubt it.
Has anyone noticed that newbies looking for errors have spent less time learning about the coins, themselves? This is not an SQ! It is an ATB! Some of you need a Red Book. Chris
I've not seen one of these quarters yet.. I've heard many sorted stories about my great great grandparents and them having had a vacation home on Block Island.
They just jump right in and start identifying anything "weird" or "irregular" (from their perspective which isn't even comparative to other similar coins) and then think it's an Error. Much less terminology. Although the op has used some terms that he must have looked up in other threads/online. So he's ahead of the curve.
Hi, I'm trying to get a handle on my new hobby. This is new to me and appreciate your input. Thanks to all.
Welcome to CT Paul. It was a fair question for a newbie to ask. Keep on looking at all of your change and you'll learn a lot. Good luck.
Blaming YouTube here. @Paul Ortega , In the message above: “SQ” = State Quarters series, “ATB” = America the Beautiful series of quarters, Red Book refers to the annual coin and price guide produced by the Whitman company. Acquiring a guide book is a good first step.
