Once again, an example of a common coin being overpriced by Littleton. The ad shows a 2019 ASE that looks perfect in the artwork, a brand spankin' new silver dollar lookin' like an MS70. When you get what they send you, it's a different story, however. The piece they send you will have blemishes or a weak spot...some kind of aberration that they don't want anymore...and they may have thousands of them. ...and they still sell it to you overpriced... ...and this is not the only denomination they do this to...Spark
...and, just to be fair...other companies do this as well, so Littleton isn't the Lone Ranger...Spark
They only claim the coin to be "UNCIRCULATED" ... nothing more nothing less. So including your comment ... there is still nothing wrong with this offer. Guys like you are gonna find something wrong with anything presented. It apparently bothers you that a company like Littleton could ever just offer a fair honest deal.
I stand by my comments. I have dealt with Littleton before and gotten both good coins and bad coins. In this instance though, I was remarking about the ad for the 2019 ASE, and using truth as a defense, I spoke the truth. Here's more truth for you: I don't buy anything from them any more because I've been burned by them too many times in the past...@Zeppo Shanski...Peace, brother...Spark
We are talking about unsolicited coins, not coin club coins. They always include a first class postage paid envelope to return unsolicited coins they send to try to get you interested in joining one of their coin clubs. But if you are a member of one of their clubs and they send you a coin on approval, why should you expect them to pay return postage if you don't want it? Usually, if you return a couple of coin club selections, they just drop your membership, which is reasonable. Why should they keep paying to send you coins that you return? Just don't understand what all the fuss is about Littleton. All you have to do is call their customer service staff and ask not to receive any more unsolicited coins.
Read the fine print. Santa fell off the roof. You put on the suit. That makes you Santa Claus. But unlike the movie, Littleton does not make you get married in within a year. Ho! Ho! Ho!
Whether they do good or harm, they must do a lot of it. Almost every time I am called in to evaluate a collection for an estate Littleton has been there, as evidenced by their sealed cellophane packaging.
I use to buy from Littleton years ago. I agree that coins were a little high priced but I don't believe I ever got burned. Their descriptions always matched what I was purchasing. Some people expect an uncirculated coin to be MS70 when buying one.
Within the last month or so...got an ad from Littleton for a typeset they were offering. I didn't bite for a couple reasons: 1. The ad was ambiguous. They did not specify any grade range for any denomination in the set. ...and 2. I already have G4-VF20 coins of the type they will send you. Spark
Just today I was at the monthly coin show closest to my house; there is a show every Sunday but none other than today's is close. The regularly cheapest dealer that sells lots of current stuff was selling the SAME ASEs as the one of my post for $18.50. ... That's the SAME $$$ for the EXACT SAME COIN as Littleton ... "UNCIRCULATED". Just because YOU ... Spark ... don't like them doesn't give any reason to not believe in the value of this deal. I've read the entire page, and it is here for anyone's viewing. THERE IS NO FINE PRINT. You get a UNC 2019 ASE and a throw-in FREE ATB Quarter with FREE shipping.
Just got an order from Littleton and returned the "approvals" in the postage free mailer. The only things I have ordered in several years are the latest Sak... Sach... Gold Dollars, since they aren't released for circulation. I always return the woefully overpriced approvals and the only time I got any unsolicited (?) coins was when I filled out a card saying I collected ancients...talk about overpriced!!!
Yep. Even I have a cellophane-wrapped Littleton Lincoln cent. I didn't have the pleasure of being a Littleton customer, though. I bought it at a coin show...
