Picked this Edward VII 1909 Florin up already graded at NGC MS64. So obviously, a pretty expensive coin. I got the 1909 half crown at a coin show a few months ago and sent it to NGC, came back AU58. Pretty pleased although I would like to build up more of a collection of high grade Edwardian silver. I am seeking to get the 1905 right now but the auction may go beyond my means. image00054[1].jpg

Beautiful coin. My only example is really bad compared to yours :(

I have a few Edward VII Florins, but there are not even remotely that nice.

I've always thought that the Edward VII florin was one of the most beautiful designs in all of British coinage. I love the symbolism of the design as well, though I must say that Britannia has fallen quite far in the years since it was minted...

I attended the Midland Coin Fair today in Birmingham UK and picked up a 1905 florin and a 1910 half crown. I am sending both to NGC and are for keeps, not flipping. Your views, as always appreciated.

I love the design. I own one in a very low grade. I can only image what that set you back. I bought a proof once but it was so badly cleaned and hairlines I send it back.

    The 1910 did cost me a lot, the 1905, oddly wasn't very expensive....about 250

I prefer the 1910. IMO, the '05 florins are not all that scarce and esp. in ~VF or so condition.

None of the photos do the coins justice. The 1910 looks almost as struck and the 1905 obverse is really nice, the reverse not so nice at all. The 05 seems to catalogue much higher than the 10 h/c.

Nice, but I don't think that they are worth the price of admission (into a slab). They look a bit washed out.

The 1902 proofs are of the matte style. They were sand blasted after minting, then wiped with a cloth to remove any residual sand. They all have hairlines. About the highest grade they achieve is Proof 63, which is what mine grades.

I think you mean submission...…...the 05 does look at little washed out, but even in VF it is a valuable coin here. The 10 is stunning in hand, but may not translate because of my poor camera and lighting.

The 02's are everywhere and thus of no interest really.

This was also a pick-up on the day, and cost next to nothing. 100_1372.JPG 100_1374.JPG

I did know this. But mine was very clearly cleaned fairly harshly. More than they would normally have been. Plus there was a few other issues. You should post yours, 63 is a solid grade.

I'll see if I can take some decent pics. It is the same gray color seen on most. I paid $125 for it, so I was happy with the look and price.
