At first I thought it was forced off. No tool marks, scratches, or gripping devices anywhere on the edges, rims, or the surfaces. There are striations on the inner areas on both the layer and the core, but not scratches. This is a nice addition to my error collection. Enjoy! ~Joe C.
Interesting clamshell, @paddyman98. I was thinking they generally happen to silver coins. Seems like also happen to clad quarters as well.
Nice error, @JCro57. Do you think these clamshells looked like that (a bit pry up) when they came out from the Mint? Or the dealers pry them up a bit before selling? Just curious.
