Hi guys, My name is Joshua. I am from Portland Oregon. I am new to collecting coins. Ive been coin roll hunting like crazy. So addicting. Love this new hobby. Investing money in money and learning so much along the way. Who knew? Well you guys did of coarse. Ok lets cut this short. I was hunting tonight and stumbled upon this beauty. Will you guys help me out please. I have no idea what this is called. I have no idea what its value is. Should I send this to pcgs? Thanks ahead of time for any help.
He's asking about what appears to be the reverse struck on the obverse. So, is it a vise job? Can't tell for sure if the reverse has reversed lettering, which would prove the vise work, but it "appears" both images have proper lettering. Welcome to CT, Joshua! Steve
The rotation of the Memorial is too far off. Every Lincoln clash that I have ever seen shows the Memorial crossing horizontally to the bust of Lincoln. On both sides of this coin, the Memorial crosses diagonally to the bust of Lincoln. Granted, rotated dies do occur from time to time, but this looks too much like a "sandwich" job using glue. Chris
How about removing the glue with acetone (follow precautions found on many CT threads) and give us new photos? Steve
You guys were right. Thank you it was glues I chipped it off. I am thankful for you guys. Saved face on being embarassed at the shop. I am sharing a crazy nickel next . No date and D minted.
It all chipped off by hand lol. Thanks yall! I posted an amazaballs nickel thread. Any advice is great advise.
Hell yes. You guys are good. I cant believe people and the trickery. It weighed right i just cant see how they added but didn't change the weight.
Keep looking and learning. There are lots and lots of damaged couns, a few true errors and varieties that are worth very little, and only lotto odds for hitting the jackpot. IMO However, learning about the minting process, numismatic and history are the real payback
