Can anyone tell me if this is some kind of error or just regular wear damage and if its an error what it might be worth? Thanks

    Hi:)
    Welcome to ct!
Imho, it looks like post mint damage,(pmd). Circulation wear. It took a hit from an object across the A.

    No extra value.

Thank you so much. I just came across this 1982 d small date penny which if was struck on a bronze planchet is worth a bundle. Do you know how to tell if it was? Thanks.

Usually by weighing them, a copper cent weighs around 3.11 grams. That is not necessary on yours though, the beginning of zinc blisters are visible.

Yep, just damage, and for the record, there were no 1965 quarters with mintmarks, so that part goes without saying.
