I hope you all get well soon. I would suggest the following remedies: 1. For that lack of desire to attack those boxes/rolls I suggest reading “Found in Rolls” in Coin World or Coin Finds in COINS magazine. You never know what lies within until you crack them suckers open. 2. For that lack of killer instinct to buy something while in the coin shop, run your hands through a pile of silver coins to get the aroma of silver on your hands 3. If all else fails, get back to work at your day job. That should cure you of any of these illnesses. Good luck!
Well my interest hasn't declined though financial necessities have forced me to cut back on purchases a bit lol... so cured that by going through a coin store's jumbo bucket of foreign coins for 25 cents each. Was there about an hour looking through it and came home with about 20 coins... including a proof cent from Panama... some of them I may need help actually indentifying lol... but will have fun sorting them. Have to get around to sorting and classifying all the Costa Rican coins I brought home last August. Ought to keep me busy until I can actually afford major coin purchases again. Have also got into collecting US $2 bills, by series... a fun and not too expensive thing to do until you try going earlier than 1928. My type set has reached the point there's nothing I can add to it that costs less than $100. So that's on hold for a while until finances aren't so tight. Did get more operating captal by getting rid of a quarter eagle that on closer examination was heavily polished on the obverse (only cost me about melt, and I sold it for melt, so no big loss... in fact a slight gain due to the increased value of gold). Turned it into more coins.
Thats what im saying. I ordered some world coin grad bags from some one on ebay and found some very interesting ones all older. All and all it cost me $42.92 and got 40 different coins from all over the world, some silver. lol Althought I did end up with 15 being from Canada. They still where old. One from 1867 and some from the 1920's. I actually got a good fun deal on ebay. Thats twice in a month. I guess as much as I dislike the ebay, sometimes its not to bad.
i have had good finds in rolls such as 12 liberty nickels i 3 cases. 38 and up with full steps . a nickel with no nickel clad or on a cent planchet, 5 rolls of silver nickels , 5 rolls of 39p and no idea of how many rolls of 40s. and 50s.as for work i am totaly disabled and take of my sick mother and twin 10 year old grandsons .i just can't crack this case open . maby it is spring feaver.
Seems to be a LOT of that going around right now. Not me. I've been outbid on every auction since the end of February. I've even bid all the way up to value plus a dollar or maybe two. I'm usually outbid by low FB newbees but not always. I'm also amazed at how far above value the winning bid often climbs. I'l wait till things cool off a bit; Ill be hanged if I'm going to pay double price for anything.
I'm with you there Rick, but in my case, it's probably more due to the 3 feet of snow we've had on the ground for the last few weeks. It's just such a pain to get out to the banks, that I stopped doing it weekly. It's supposed to get up to 5C tomorrow, but it's going back down below freezing on Sunday, so we'll get some melting, but nowhere near enough. I'm holding out for spring, myself.
My bug has to do with buying a 1968 Roadrunner, at the moment. My coin habit may switch to sell mode.
well i finaly opened the nickles and this is what i found. 1929 buffalo 1985s proof 1939p 1940 3p 1941 5p 1s 1946 2p 1947 2p 1s 1948 2d 1952 1p 1d 1953 2p 1954 1p 2d 1956 1p 1d 1957 1p 4d 1958 4d 1959 3d 1p canada 2 went to bank to get another case and they asked me where i had been.
I caught it too ... bought about 25 reals for melt ... haven't even had the energy or interest to haul out the KM & attribute them. My husband has dialed the 9 & the 1 and is threatening to dial the last '1' if I don't pick them up soon & do something with them.. this just isn't normal. On the other hand, I did get to buy a 1908 $10 Indian the other day for $450 ... gosh, I hope it's real.
IMHO, the best solution is to watch something really unbelievable, i.e., the Coin Collector on HSN. If that doesn't snap you out of it, I don't know what will.:headbang:
