I was hoping that for the right price it would be a good idea. Also, why I’m posting here for some opinions What concerns would you have? Other than the obvious risk of buying anything to be shipped, I do understand that and would take precautions.
My concerns center around pretty much everything I see and have more to do with the coin itself than shipping. I would also be interested in hearing what you think a “right price” would be. For starters and mostly as a general statement, the images are wholly unacceptable for selling purposes, but is there not anything about the coin that concerns you? Without knowing any of the backend details it’s hard to be sure, but there’s something rather suspicious here. Let’s just say that in the absolute best case based upon what info has been provided, the coin has serious issues.
I would think you would have an idea of the value beforehand. So, if someone on CT tells you that it is worth less than what the seller is asking, what are you going to tell him/her? Are those your photos or the seller's? I would surely want better images before I decided, especially if the coin is claimed to be a specific variety. Chris
That coin is in lousy shape. If those are seller pictures, they are amateurish. I don’t know what price you’re thinking about, but I happened to run into this coin in an MS65 slab red at $529 from a superb dealer today.Throwing that out as a reference point for you.
The coin in question looks to have mushy details like it was cast or something. Here is my example found CRHing.

Famous last words uttered by many, many now shirtless individuals. The best way to get a good deal is via knowledge. At this point perhaps you should request acceptable images taken outside of any holder. This isn’t unreasonable and the seller’s reaction to your request may be able to tell you everything you need to know.

Higher dollar coins (anything more than $10 for me) are best bought from a established dealer or in a certified slab from one of the big two. The coin appears to be a doubled die coin but the rim is real thick I’d walk away from this one. Just my opinion. Reed.
