(*PMD) Spooned? It's pretty much the same circumference as a normal penny. Its thicker and heavier than avg. But within allowed deviation...but could try a more accurate scale.
The '77 is 'tapped' on the rim to flatten it like you see. Not an error - sorry PMD - Post-Minting Damage (after the coin was already in circulation)
Right. I meant to type that I thought it was PMD and maybe someone probably did it because it had a fat rim to start with. They did a nice job. Lol
Just for kicks. If it was an ordinary coin that was tapped down would it still be thicker? I'm just saying that logic dictates that if one taps flat an ordinary coin it WILL become thinner it's just physics. I never said it was an error, though. If you read my title....
Perhaps the coin was already thick and they wanted it smaller to match a regular size penny. It’s not the size it’s how you spend it!
