Franz ll, last holy Roman emperor

    6 & 3 kreuzer bronzes dated 1800..the 2nd son of Maria Theresa and Francis l & also 2nd to hold the title . He would dissolve the HRE in 1806 after defeat by Napoleon at the battle of Austerlitz.In 1804 he founded the Austrian empire and there became Franz l of Austria.     o wow! those are kool..ive never seen any like that!..:).. 1807, so they'd be of him as Franz l...nice!

    I've always liked these designs, especially the ones with that square or diamond (lozenge?) shape (and whatever you call the other shape), like @chrsmat71 posted in Post #2.

    when i see or hear that word,(and i'd say you're correct) i think of ludens cough drops from back in the day.:)

    The guy who pronounces the word "kreuzer" if you listen to the audio pronunciation link in the Wikipedia article certainly sounds like he could use a throat lozenge!

    Actually, it was....
    The Emperor was ruling over most of Germany/ Austria/ Hungary/ Czech Rep./ Slovakia/ Galacia/ part of Poland/ most of modern Yugoslavia.
    Also the Emperor was the Pope's protector of the Roman Catholic religion
    Thus it was a "Holy Roman Empire"
