I won 3 lots of British tokens in last weeks CNG sale. This is their photos but between the 3 lots it is 57 tokens. Looking forward to them arriving. The last lot was really good.
After picking up @lordmarcovan proof liberia cent, I felt like I needed it's big brother to complete the set and I wanted a circulation strike, so I settled on this piece.
Wow. After parting with the one you got from me, I briefly considered getting one of these two from Atlas Numismatics. https://www.pcgs.com/cert/84786887/ https://www.pcgs.com/cert/36479321/ Alas, I merely post these by way of comparison, not as new purchases. The 1847 2c piece above was just a bit too steep for my budget and the 1896 cent, while just barely within reach, got put on the back burner when I bought something else from @Paddy54 instead. (But it's still there, on the back burner, for ... someday... maybe. That is, if it's still available the next time a pile of cash falls into my lap. As if that ever happens. LOL)
It's on the 1847 cent, as well, like the one I sold @kazuma78. (The piece I sold him happens to be the finest graded example at either PCGS or NGC. Population 1/0. I shall miss it considerably.) Anyway, I always liked that little steamship, too. My home city's seal features one.
Got the grade for the 1908 corona today. Looks like I made the right call on this pickup. NGC MS66 PL
This is where I get my real joy - buying up an old album of coins and then spending days searching and researching through it. Here is one I picked up last Saturday - a picture of the whole lot on the table, roughly sorted into countries. (Sorry about the focus!) Then some of the interesting bits picked out already. (There also seems to be a whole series of WW1 German Notgeld!) I am sure @coin_nut will have something to say about some of these!
Too bad about the little rim bruise, but that British North Borneo piece is sharp! Cool coins. I too thought of @coin_nut when I saw that Thai coin. It too is quite sharp. A handsome piece. PS- those were the kind of lots I used to absolutely love going through. I don't know why I strayed away from that, but I have. When did I become one of those "I don't have the time for that stuff" kind of people? Still, seeing your lot there gives me a nice nostalgic feeling.
Yes Sir! I scoped out the Thai coin right away, 1903 (122) 1 att, Birmingham mint!. I do not have one of them....yet! The North Borneo and Sarawak coins are right nice too!
I have a thing for planes on coins. First square coin. 2007 Hungary 1000 Forint Cupronickel "JANOS ADORJAN, DESIGNER OF THE FIRST SUCCESSFUL HUNGARIAN AEROPLANE"
