I am not particularly good with the US system of grading, but on the British scale this would be pushed to make F. Sorry!

I think even by US standards it's Fine. At best it's a very low VF.

I would say high F or low VF. The wear on his face shoots it away from anywhere close to XF.

Thanks for looking and your input! I was thinking F myself but I really like the toning and I was hoping maybe a VF.

    F15 would be my guess.

This one of mine which is a 1915 would probably get a good MS in the grading world but is classed as XF over here in the UK.
Just showing you for information purpose.

    Any online resource for grading
Nice looking coin. I'm intrested in particular 1925 Florin because of the low mintage. Do you know by any chance an online resource for grading British coins? Or maybe a good book? Thanks

Others are better qualified to answer your question as I don't pay any attention to the modern systems.
My way is very old fashioned, if it looks nice it comes home :)

The Standard Guide to Grading British Coins (1797-1970) by Derek Francis Adams is the book you want.
The 1925 florin in the thread indicates fair (which = melt).

I would look for a copy of a Spinks catalog. It is the Redbook of UK coins.
The Edward VII florins are my favorite, but very pricey in nice condition. I was able to get a 1902 matte proof for a good price.

Yes, I really like them too. I like the one I posted because of the toning even thou it's a low grade. I'm gonna look into Spinks catalog. Thanks

You should be able to find one a bit out of date fairly cheap. If the information on older coins is what you're after, it will save you some money.

In the US this would be an AU58, and maybe even up to MS62.

    F-15 probably, VF-20 maybe.

Spink is the general "Bible" for British coins going back to year dot.It does not cover many known varieties but it is a good starting point.
A good guide for coins 1771-1967 is Collectors' coins Great Britain.(considerably cheaper than spink and covers a nr of varieties)
The pricing guide in the aforementioned books are UK based grades where a UK F = approx US VF. Some of the pricing is way out in the real world.

Thanks for the info! I just got Freeman's Bronze coinage of Great Britain which I find to be very interesting for varieties but I'm definitely gonna get the one you recommended but I'm having trouble finding it on Amazon
Is this one ... kink of the same, different edition maybe, as the one you recommended?

Yes indeed Patrick. This is the latest edition available.
Chris Perkins the author runs Predecimal.com and further to his books (Rotographic) is a coin and accessories dealer...any a thoroughly good chap.
The forum, amongst the members has many published numismatic authors (incl Michael Freeman and Derek Allen (my mistake previously calling him Adams))
    and many US contributors.
The grading book will be essential reading to relate to the pricing guides.
Maybe try Amazon or Ebay UK.I'm sure you will find sellers willing to send books over the pond for a small premium.
If you need further info on specialized reading let me know.
PS I also type collect US and World coins.
