Puzzled might be the wrong word. I've gotten second takes but once they see the JFK, they know what it is. Honestly, $2, 50 cent pieces and small dollar coins aren't as obsolete as one may think.
I spend a couple of Ike $ a few weeks back. The cashier said "I'm taking these home to my boys" before she got them in the drawer.
You were luckier than I. The last time I spent a couple of halves at the local X-Mart convenience store, the cashier says "Dude, what is this?". I replied "A Kennedy half dollar dude", to which he replied "Dude, I've never heard of the dude". SMH.
