That is not AU55. Just because it has a scratch? You got a very good deal. Is it a scratch? Where are the signs of circulation?

Another reason $20 was a steal...they net graded the coin from MS to Au. 55.
If you look above at the base of the neck just above the 913 there's some very light scratches. Running at the shoulders angle. That's how you buy a $135.00 coin for $20.:cigar:

Yes it has luster and nice eye appeal color.

I like how you move the light around so you can see the different aspects of the coin, nice coin!

Thanks! Not only do I like the effect, but it really helps me understand it better.

The buffalo’s head, for example, looks badly worn. But the changes in the light show it has the same luster as the rest of the coin. It also shows how the high points are toned blue and aren’t worn.

Based on the photos alone I feel confident comparing this raw coin to the auction records and speculating that it’s MS65.

My toned 1938D in the photo above graded by PCGS Cert was MS 66, so using that as a comparison I think you’re pretty darn close to a 65 unless that small scratch above the shoulder is a huge issue but I can’t tell!

The reverse is unbelievable in hand , hammered !
I betcha if cracked out it come back a mid grade me coin.,however I like it as is for $20. It is a great teaching tool, there are no slab issues ,cracks,scratches,dents,etc...
A sweet coin in a classic slab , she's even sweeter in Sun light.
