I just received the submission kit I ordered from ANACS. The first thing I noticed was the "shower curtain" smell typically associated with PVC/ Has anyone else noticed this? Seems kind of strange for ANACS to send out flips with PVC in them, especially since they charge extra for grading coins with PVC damage.
Although their website doesn't specifically say that their flips are PVC-free, I can't believe that they would be. I have never seen the ANACS submission kit, so I can't give you an opinion based on the actual kit, but I'm sure someone will be along who can.
They might have PVC because it take some time before a coin gets PVC from a flip....PVC flips are cheaper and so ANACS might send out PVC flips since the coins wouldn't be in the flips long enough to get it. Speedy WOW-I made it to 300!!!!!
Yes, there is PVC in the flips included in the ANACS submission kit. This is why you place the coin into the poly bag and then into the flip.
Seems to me that if they woulda sent a non-PVC flip, say like PCGS does, they send Sa-Flips (and sell), the double bagging of the coin would not be necessary and probably cheaper... Are the Poly bags safe? do they contain PVC? is the next thought in my deviuos mind--
I don't believe Poly bags contain PVC but I always wondered about oil. Don't the other grading companies include Poly bags with the SAFLIPS? Seems like trying to put a proof in a hard flip or getting it out, would get pretty hairy.
I think they say they have the coin in a flip and then in a bag so they don't have to handle it more than they have to...I don't see how that helps but thats what they say. Speedy
