It helps being in an urban area (New England) with an abundance of shows. I average about 6 shows a year, and try to get to the big bi-annual one in Boston at least once a year. I think that there are 5-6 shows within an hours drive of me every month.

The last few years I would say 3 or 4 per year. Before that I went to a few with my grandfather when I was a kid, so I would say about 15 total. I love them, Just to look if nothing else.

Probably about 25! I usually attend the local (monthly) Coin Club Show in Knoxville 5 or 6 times a year and at least one of the two Coin Shows that they have in Chattanooga, TN and Dalton, Georgia each year.

I've been to 3, all in the last month. I have yet to buy anything, just trying to get a feel for the market. There is a coin show every week in the metro area. A local coin club is holding their annual 3 day show at the end of the month. I will be attending that one.

edit: Oh crap, just realized it is this weekend not the end of the month.

Should I take a 1/2 day off of work to get there at the open on Friday?

I would say that I've been to between 7 and 10. My current pace is about 3 per year. There are a few more around than that, but that's all my pocket book and time will allow for.

For any that haven't been to one, I highly recommend it. It's a whole different ball game...particularly at a big show. If nothing else, just go and observe, watch, and listen. You will be amazed. At a big show, you also will get to see many fabulous coins. It's not uncommon at a big show to walk down an aisle and see 10 coins for over $50,000. It's fun! You also will get the opportunity to see truly unique rarities like when I saw the Brasher Doubloon with punch on the breast at the Central States show a few years back. I also love to see the high rollers and dealers wheelin and dealin. It's fun to see some guy pull out a stack of hundreds an inch thick and buy some cool coins!

I go to about 5 or 6 show a year. The longer I collect the harder is is to find things I want to buy.
I can always find "junk" silver at shows for about melt or under - I always end up buying some.

    One or two each month.

Most dealers now are saying they are selling mostly bullion and very little collectable coins. As one dealer said to me Sunday we are turning into bullion dealers

I've been to quite a few of the regional shows here in New England. Never any of the bigger national shows though.

You're lucky you got to attend that. Unfortunately, I had to fly to Boston for that weekend in order to attend my graduation (I actually graduated from Brandeis early in the winter of '05, but obviously the actual graduation for my class wasn't until May of '06). I was really bummed to miss that, but excited to receive my diploma. :smile

I've been to about 8-10 shows, all in the last year or so. Personally, I wish I had started going to them earlier. At this point, I don't purchase coins any other way now. I used to shop at a great local shop in Newton, MA, but that's no longer an option living in Denver, and I've purchased a few ancient coins online, but again, that's no longer the case.

Like someone else said, it really is like being a kid in a candy store...so much to see and buy! Furthermore, it's possible to haggle with dealers, and you have so many more options in terms of different coin types (world, ancient, etc., though U.S. coins still dominate most shows).

There's two coming up soon here, including the semi-annual Denver coin show. Saving up for that one.

I'll be traveling to my first ever coin show. 40 years of off and on collecting and I've never been to one. This show is in Minneapolis and is reported to have about 95 tables. I just hope my debit card holds out.
