emergency trip to Mexico

    well i had to go to Mexico my mom got operated on, she had brest cancer, shes allot better know, i did not get too do much but i went to a bank and ask for $100 pesos coins got this 8 and some change, the $100 have 1/2 oz. .925 sterling.

    how much is the 100 equivalent to in American?

    100 Mexican pesos = 9.2277 U.S. dollars

    just right for .5 ounces of sterling :)

    Glad to hear your mom is OK. Trips are fun, but emergency trips...not so much.

    Amazing to hear those coins actually circulate! I have been very interested in how Mexico is the only country (that I know of) that still uses a precious metal in their circulating coinage, albeit a very small amount and only in higher denomination coins.

    I really would like to assemble a BU set of those 100 peso coins, plus the silver bimetallic circulating coins from the early 90's (5, 10, and 20 pesos), but rarely do I see a dealer with modern Mexican coinage at any of the shows I go to. Looks like I'll just have to take a trip to Mexico instead!

    ^ too bad you werent at the ANA show here, there was a whole table with Mexican Coin Collectors. lol
