It may be silver, which would be nice. I have read that most mined silver is a by product of gold, but don't know what that means. But its silver colored, heavy like silver and hard like silver. Hopefully, it is. No reason it cant be. If it were iron or steel, it would be rusty. If stainless, or such as these, it would not ring up in the copper/silver range. Sooooo…..could be.
I didn't consider the magnet test, but that's good. Metal detectors are weighted to find noble metals like gold, silver, copper, lead and such. Whereas security detectors are programmed for steel, iron, etc. They don't usually make guns and knives out of gold.J I have been through airport detectors many times with jewelry which did not raise a peep, but a pair of those tiny little luggage lock keys set it off in Japan. Its not magnetic, so that eliminates the common iron and steel. It has a strong signal so it probably isn't chrome/nickel/stainless. So, its possibly a hunk of silver. We may never figure out the how and why, but if its silver, or white gold, it wont matter eh?
I really hope so ! That would be awesome. Iv never knew about white gold could be out in the wild like that.
I was reading this thread this morning and then ran across this later in the day - https://news.artnet.com/art-world/metal-detector-discovers-golden-roman-coin-1509847 - What a find!!! I may have to move to Europe just for this purpose!
I saw it a couple of times on Acorn, which streams British TV. Don’t know if it’s still there; my free trial ran out.
Try Try non-drug holistic remedies. One is to spray WD-40 where it hurts. Do not try that if you have an open wound. Another is to loop your forefinger over the center belt loop in the back and make a knuckle. This will hit between your 4th and 5th vertebrae and it is the site of your body's natural cortisone pump. You can't OD and you never run out. If it hurts don't do that. Press in as hard as you can for two minutes. If it lessens your pain do it again. Everything else I know is for temporary pain relief. What you describe is chronic pain. Good luck.
Shrews: on your chronic back pain, a Hang Ups or any similar device will do more than ease pain for a short time. Look at the Hang Ups website. It even eases/stops scoliosis over time. I'm a digger (detector) & it's helped me. Another item that has helped me is Vionix (sp?) shoes. They have an unusual heel configuration. I hope this helps you.
You all should try to go to the next FMDAC [Federation of Metal Detectors & Archaeological Clubs] hunt.
For who ever metal detects how far do y'all dig until you stop? I was at my grandparents house and My grampa said let's see how far your detector goes so he took me to were there septic tank is and my detector picked it up. It is two feet down. It really goes that far? Do y'all dig until you find it even if it's two feet down ?
Depends on the horizontal size of the find and the depth. I determine size by scanning N to S then E to W and mark the extremes with golf tees. I then use a shortened metal radio antenna (a handle on one end and about 5' long with a sharp point on the opposite) to determine composition (wood or metal) by sound when struck. The antenna conducts the sound. You can determine a rough shape by doing several penetrations. An antenna like this will penetrate almost all soils - even dense clay. At this point, you decide if it's worth the dig. It's not a fool proof method but better than nothing. Good luck!
