So I went back to check my two 2019-W cents after Mountain Man discovered the blemishes showed up after he initially received his. Thankfully, mine still have no blemishes. However! It appears there might be a die crack on one of them. Tried to take the best pictures I could while working with the packing. It looks like a good spot for a die crack to happen and hopefully you masters of knowledge can tell from the photos. I don't want to remove it from the packing, but not too sure how else I can get good enough photos if I don't.
Hi Imho, it looks like MAD ( misaligned die strike as well as a die crack in between the R and I. Plus a die chip on the D? Like you said it’s difficult to tell with the coin in the package. I would get plastic tweezers and put rubber on the end and gently take it out of the package.
+1 minus the fact that I would not take it out of the package and don’t understand why you’re recommending rubber ended tweezers...
Thanks. It would be cool if it had all of those things. Sadly, it was rotated so I could more easily focus on that spot with the lighting. The die chip is just the wonderful packaging.
Sorry,I was just thinking of the best possible way to look at the coin without causing any scratches or damage
Sorry, I’m just trying to understand. It sounds like you’re suggesting to use tweezers to remove the coin. Tweezers should never be used to handle a coin. The best way to safely remove it would be to simply cut open one of the ends and slide the coin out.
Not my favored way to handle but with the right stuff coins can be handled safely using tweezers. Although I wouldn’t recommend it. Reed and Sparkles the Unicorn
