Heres the story.... a guy i work with knows i collect coins and said he had some and brought them in to work to show me.He had some nice morgans and peace dollars he got from his mother when she past away.He also had 8 walking halves that he wants to sell me.I suck at grading coin and am not ashamed to admit. He told me to look them up and give myself a nice discount because i have helped him in the past a few times and gave him some holders for his morgans.in what range should i price these? I am guessing at 8-10 dollars and discounting them to 5 each?I want to give the guy a fair price with out low balling him so here ar 5 of them. The best and the worst with the other 3 falling in between. Thanks for the help.
The Walking Liberty halves melt for about $7 on the nose at the moment, so if you get them for $5 you got a good deal.
Without seeing any of the Morgan's or Peace dollars, it is hard to say. But, they melt for about $15 each at the moment.
the morgans and peace dollars he is going to keep to give to his son. Thanks for the advice on the halves though.Like i said i dont want to short change the guy, just want to be fair about it...
I would say $6 is a fair price for both you and him. If he really doesn't mind you discounting them more heavily, then $5 is very reasonable as well.
A quick update for you guys. I was talking to my friend about the halves and sent him the links to some online price guides and explained to him where the coins would fall in price and he said well if they average between 6 and 8 bucks give me 3 a piece i said welllllllll that is a little low and dont want to be robbing him so i am going to give him 5 a piece.......he is happy i am happy and i dont feel like i robbed him blind.
