This is the photo on the NGC website so the scratch must have been there when it was graded. Untitled.JPG

And grading high end proof coins from photos is literally, impossible.

Some know more than NGC/CAC just from a photo though apparently and not even a good photo at that

For the vast majority of the cases, that is true, but if you see defects on something that is given a very high grade, it's a good idea to leave that offering be unless you have a chance to see it in person.

Agreed, though personally, I wouldn't purchase a high end proof coin of any significant value from just photos, even if a defect wasn't present. It is impossible to evaluate the depth of mirrors or hairlines.

Oops meant Liberty nickel. Seller ended listing. Wonder why?

Possibly because it was getting trashed from a picture

There’s good reason for the seller to not be happy

If that were indeed the case and it was in response to this thread, then he was probably done a favor if anything as some Slab Renew and a new set of images could make a serious difference in the hammer price if that scratch is on the holder.

It appears to be relisted with the same pictures.
If anything, the seller would likely be better off using the full slab photo as the first picture instead of just the coin (one can't really see the mark there and a bidder would be more likely to click on it by seeing the star plus combo in the picture).
