Well despite apparently rubbing a lot of you the wrong way by asking about a coin yesterday, I found another interesting coin today I want to ask about. I won’t even attempt to guess what is going on with it since that sorta thing seem to make most peoples blood boil around here. I’m mainly wondering if this is a repunched mint mark, what’s up with the rim and what’s going on with scar on the reverse and if that’s considered post mint damage or something else. I apologize for my ignorance and hope at least one or two members will once again be kind enough to let me know their thoughts. Thank you.
I didn't see your other post but if you think you rubbed people the wrong way, forget about it. There's no need for you to apologize. You will receive impolite, rude, discourteous, etc. comments from members who think they know it all and seem to forget they started out with the same knowledge about coins as you and I. As far as your Roosevelt dime is concerned IMO it's a misaligned die strike. The cut on the reverse is PMD (Post Mint Damage). I hope you stick around on Coin Talk as the majority of members are always willing to help.
I just took a look at all of this members threads. He asked good questions and seems like every answer was polite and to the point. I don't understand what he means by "people blood boil".. He even thanked us for the responses we gave
Recommend you hop over to https://www.error-ref.com/ and do some reading. It will give you a basic vocabulary about errors.
Ha! I did the same thing. He's probably referring to this thread. One in which the OP said both, "that’s how much of a rookie I am" and "I don’t know how any of y’all are even contesting me". Not surprising that a couple of folks got testy with him. @MCPark82, I'm not seeing anything of note in your dime. Looks like an ordinary circulated clad Roosy to me.
The reverse has a large scrape which is from damage. The obverse is a MAD and that carries no premium.
There is a RPM for the date but I don't believe this coin is it. There would be a raised line poking up from the middle of the "D".
I was referring to a thread I saw go up a couple days ago just after posting a 1969d penny about something to the effect of why are all these new users constantly posting ordinary coins and asking questions
