:playful: Applause::::::: WOW am I glad I'm only into coins!!! I think I actually hurt myself trying to read and follow all that about the bills! :nurse: I give you guys all the credit in the world for that.

I'm not great at either, but I actually think that grading bills is a bit easier than coins. At least for me.

You would be amazed at what actually goes in to grading a single bill especially
If it is a mid grade or right on the edge !

What about the 68 vs. 66 grade differential on the 2 SCs? Can anybody tell me why they each graded that way from my pics ?

Generally speaking, your gem grades 65 - 70 are usually all about one
Thing and that,s centering and margins, the better they are the higher
Grade, sometimes just by a small fraction.

The graders also look at Registration.

Registration is the centering of the back print within the front print which can be viewed by holding the note up to a bright light.

You mean the back and front "rectangles" should be perfectly overlapping, ideally ?

Yes. Ideally the back print should be centered within the front print.

So in your opinion, what are the flaws on the 66 that aren't there on the 68 ?

Margins and centering seem to be the same on both bills. I'm stumped.

you have to look closely, but the information is there you just have to know
What to look for, it obvious to me right away the margins are off substantially
on the 66, first on the front, top to bottom, bottom has a much larger boarder
Which impedes the over all centering, the back of the note exhibits the
Same problems, only side to side, so you just need to know what to look for
    Is all :)

I'm looking at the front of the 66 right now....the left/right margins look a bit thinner than the top/bottom margins but not that much.

The bottom looks a BIT wider -- 1-2 mm ? -- but nothing that screams out. It's not like the top margin was 1 or 2 MM and the bottom was like 8-10 mm, something that is a multiple of the other.

I mean, do those differences scream out at you ? To me, no.

    I guess that's why I'll never be a grader.:D

Like a coin, if all you’re seeing is the front (obverse), then you’re only seeing half of what’s graded.
