1998 p coin error

    I have a 1998 p dime error has what looks like a double rim and can be seen on both sides and can’t find any info on it . Any info would be great

    Welcome to ct.

    I believe they call it a mad ( miss aligned dye-strike )

    The experts will be on here shortly to give a better explanation.

    Yes, definitely looks like a minor misaligned die strike. With the condition of the coin, and being a minor mint error, it will probably be worth face value.

    Agree to above. Looks like a minor MAD.

    A MAD would be out of alignment on just one side, wouldn't it? Isn't this an off-center strike?

    Shouldn't be an off-center, since none of the coin design (characters or Roosevelt head) is missing. As for your 2-sided MAD question, I believe it is possible (have seen examples in ATB quarters), but let's hear what others say. On the other hand, I have bookmarked an informative old CT post regarding MAD. Well worth reading. Here it is:

    If the dime has full reeding on the edge,
    then yes, it's also a minor MAD on the reverse.
