Is anyone disappointed with the low value of the 2016 centennial gold dime, quarter, and half dollar?
I wouldn’t know. I changed my mind about owning them and got them in the aftermarket (NGC70) right around the issuance price. I love them. The flippers may have a totally different view.
Well no..... I expect that from commemorative bullion, really. I happen to be very infatuated with the SLQ series and do have the gold SLQ. I also own a 1999 Gold George Washington commemorative as well. Absolutely a strikingly handsome design with low mintage figures and it too is valued about spot. As much as I loved the Apollo commemoratives last month, I did not purchase the gold even though I bought multiple silver and clad. I felt the mint just priced that one unrealistically high..... And that’s just my feel..... But yes, expect gold commemoratives to pretty much stay in line with spot values. I would love to see that change. But rather don’t expect it to do so.
That series may be a good example of waiting for a while if the Mint sells out. I also bought the 2014 gold Kennedy half at just a tad over issuance price last year. Some crazy prices still going untouched on eBay.
I would've bought all he had at the price of 1/10 oz gold. I still see people trying to get $250 for them, and the cheapest completed sale I see on eBay is $170. They mostly still go for well over $200.
