1996-P Nickel Error? missing letters & extra "L" in Monticello....

    It's seen a lot of wear but the missing letters are fairly common. They are caused by a Die filled with grease or some other debris.

    I agree- struck through grease. Quite common, as Collecting Nut said, and your coin probably doesn't have any extra value.
