Here is a recent purchase of mine. Please give me your opinions on this coin and offer up some grades and values. Thanks.
I examined the date under a 10x loupe and I don't think it is the 9/7 variety. What your seeing under the 9 in that photo is just dust.
After posting, I worried about that possibility. Still a nice coin. I'm not even close to being proficient in grading these, so I'll refrain from an attempt.
I love a bust half like that one Gopher. Got character. I'm going VF25. Don't have a Greysheet handy so going retail. $70-80.
When I bid on it I was thinking it might be a VF-20. So I guess I was in the ballpark. I won her for $63.49 delivered. I was the only bidder. What I really like about the coin is that it looks like an original, uncleaned piece. I see so many of these Capped Bust Halves that have obvious sings of cleaning.
No offense, but this one was probably dipped or cleaned along the way somewere(based off what some others would or might say) - but in this case who would care? Not me and at that price I would buy a coin like this all day long. Personally I like the color and coin. Great buy for a very nice coin!
