In 1965, two guys from the Bronx teamed up together to scam collectors into buying what was really an altered Mint error. Though it is a genuine regular strike coin from the Mint, a set of fake dies struck it a second time, albeit "rotated in collar." Below is a photo of the altered coin in question, which a dead giveaway is the fact that it was only double struck on one side combined with no corruption of any kind on the reverse. Anybody have one of these?
Thanks for your info, @JCro57. Luckily, I didn't come across these "single-sided" D/S. But it is always good to know such fakes exist.
