I will show you what I found today on 2019 P Native American One dollar coin. On the obverse, the reed star is clearly imprinted on the cheek of Sacagawea.
That really can't occur during the minting process. It is most likely a very hard contact hit/mark from the edge of another Sacagewea coin that occurred after it left the mint.
@Greg Gordley How about posting full images of both sides of the coin? I don't even know what the reverse looks like! Chris
There's a lot of bag marks on that girl. No way that could occur during the minting process that I know of. Easily done after it left the Mint. Welcome to CT.
I purchased a box 2019 P and 2019 D Native American dollars of $250.00 for each box (actual cost $275.00) in rolls from the United States Mint. When unrolling these coins last night I found this one. How does this happen after it left the mint? I am knew at this, soo any education would be greatly appreciated. Greg
Coins are not rolled or shipped by the US Mint. The Mint ship large quantities and they are rolled by another party. The return address on my last Mint purchase is from a fulfillment center in Memphis, TN. Cents are shipped in quantities of 400,000 and rolled elsewhere. A lot of movement can happen. Is the star raised or included into her cheekbone?
Doesn't appear to be raised. It looks more included in the cheekbone. Thank you for the information on the mint.
