I have heard of clipped versions. I'm sure that there has to be others hiding in collections out there.
I've heard of clips and I've seen several with laminated planchets. I believe there may be at least one off-center, and I have seen a couple strike throughs. So yes errors do exist. Usually they are considered to be white elephants. An error collector who only wants nice examples of a particular error don't want them because there are much cheaper examples of the error type available, and the non-error collectors don't want them because they normally want problem free examples of coins for their collections.
