Did not get the coin I was originally after, but got second choice.
The Merovingians ruled over what is now France/ Belgium/ Luxembourg/ Netherlands/ Austria/ Germany/ Switzerland. Later succeeded by the Carolingian Empire.

Thanks everyone:happy:! I really like French coinage, esp. the Feudal/ Medieval periods. The Merovingian coins are esp. interesting. My goal now to get some from Aquitaine/ Australasia/ Provence/ Burgundy kingdoms. Many coins ended up being used by Saxons in England.

    Very nice.
I'm unsure if I won my lot (156) and it's killing me.
Was ahead on the pre-bid with some cushion but I slept thru live bidding.
Hammer prices aren't posted yet, have they sent email notifications to the winners?

Nice coin, Panzerman. It's so cool how you can see stylistic the progression from Byzantine tremisses through Vandalic/Visigothic into the Merovingians.
