Your pics lacks good color, but the coin looks UNC to me with no distracking marks at all and is struck decent.......take one of your "good" pics, or do you have to leave it in the 2x2?
I am going to play it save and leave it in for now - just in case even though I suspect I will keep this one. Plan on taking it to my local tomorrow to see what he says. As for the strike. I have seen better, but it is pretty descent for a 26-S.
My local agreed with me - unc. but wiped. Not sure exactly what constitutes "wiped", but I can imagine. Still a descent looking coin. It would be a 62/63 without it, so I think I will keep it. BTW: After looking through his Lincolns, he has a lot of "wiped" coins. He is not knocking off much because they have been wiper, either.
Wiped is where a dealer uses a soft cloth with a cleaner to help bring the fields out. I had a 22 weak D that a dealer did that to verify the D. His opinion on my coin was there was a shadow there. I was sick that he did that without my permission. That is a good looking coin regardless. It would fit nicely in my collection. Rhubarb
Well good then. I'm glad you have a keeper after a few tries, I know the bay can be tricky. You should be pretty close to finishing up your UNC set, no? I'd sure like to see it in a slideshow if you can ever get around to it.
Yeh. All I have left are the hard ones- S VDB, 11-S, 12-D 23-S?, 24-S, 24-D and maybe a 26-S. I am not sure that really qualifies as close
PINK = dipped and that's exactly what I thought when I saw the images. I wasn't going to say anything but since you said it first
Sheesh, didn't realize this thread was so old and the pink/dipped opinions were discussed long ago. :goof:
