I collect coin books, basically the yearly Red and Blue books. Have many years worth of both. The other day I found a set of 1964 Red and Blue books in a thrift shop. Both in great shape. Paid a $1 for both. Didn't look at them closely because I was buying a number of other books. Upon getting home I went through the 64 red book and to my surprise in the pages were one of each a $5, $10 and $20 bill. Call that lucky. Now the bills were all 1934 series. Don't see any stars or red seals. I would grade them about 25 to 35. What I want to know do these have any value above face. Obviously someone saved them for some reason. They were in separate pages. Would appreciate your valued opinions.
Few dollars of face value for the 20, and 10, the 5 dollar bill is probably just worth face value, maybe 6. Nevertheless probably around $40 you got for free, congrats. Also can you post pics?
Are they 1934 plain or 1934A, 1934B, 1934C or 1934D ? This information along with serial number and condition could make a difference for values. Post photos/scans or provide complete serial numbers with prefix & suffix letters. Sometimes something as insignificant as a back plate number can also make a difference.
OK, the $5 is 1934A with Morganthau Jr. sig. G07030870B serial no.. The $10 is a 1934B with Vinson sig. B92522213D serial. The $20 is a 1934A with Morganthau Jr. sig. B69529565A. Will try to get some pics but am medically confined to a wheelchair for a few weeks so its rough getting around.
