I'm no expert nor even a collector of Morgans, but this guy who sells coins on Etsy is trying to tell me Morgans were minted in the US for these years...if I'm mistaken, I will admit it, but i don't think so from what I've gathered... ring in folks..:)

The Chinese have made some junk like this. How would you like to have a 1909 American Silver Eagle? I’ve got one. :troll:

You're absolutely right! They weren't! This is just one reason why it does not pay to shop on Etsy.

thanks for the assurance peeps.. my mission is to supply my old friend with a silver dollar with his Dad's birthdate of 1909, he doesn't collect coins so it's really not important to him what it is as long it it looks like a 1909..i'm going to try and get a 1903 and put silver solder in the last 3 to make it look like a 9 and do not real damage to the coin since i am a collector and wouldn't harm one..he'll probably take it to the grave with him anyway..

OOPPS I was wrong. Sorry for the mix-up. I have a 1906 and a 1908 American Silver Eagle. These great rarities were prevously unknown but have been brought to us by the "CC Mint" ... That Canton China Mint ... Not the one in Nevada. 2006 Fake Silver Eagle O.jpg 2006 Fake Silver Eagle R.jpg

That totally rotten "1908 Dollar" is actually rather deceptive ... if you didn't know that such things were never made.

The trouble is if you pay these Chinese counterfeiters anything you are feeding the beast. They deserve to lose their shirts for engaging in this rotten business. It's one more thing that is ruining the hobby.
