Hi everyone. New member here. I've been collecting for a while, and my parents gave me some of their old coins. I came across this and was wondering if anyone knew what it was. It says "United States Federal System" but there are flags of China and the U.S. on the back. It also says "gold certificate" and "1,000 lines. It's dated 1913. If anyone can shed some light on it, I'd greatly appreciate it. It's larger than a silver dollar (diameter wise) and looks like it's made of either copper or bronze. Thanks!
That might be John D. Rockefeller on the obverse, but otherwise, apart from mentioning the Federal Reserve and the date of its founding, I can't find any more information on it. Token experts?
With the Chinese flag on the coin, I thought it was Chinese leader Sun Yat Sen. I don't know what this is for but it has something to do with China so it has more relevance than just the federal reserve being founded.
There is a thread on another forum about this coin/token and that thread also claims that it's Sun Yat Sen, or the poster thinks that it's Sun Yat Sen. Unfortunately the thread is two years old with no responses. It also shows an edge shot, but I can't quite make out what the text on the edge says. The thread wonders if it's a fantasy piece, which is beginning to make more sense. I can't find any real connection between the Federal Reserve and Sun Yat Sen, but that of course doesn't mean there wasn't one.
It is a modern craft made for fun, 1913 is the establish year of Federal Reserve System, and Sun Yat-Sen was not in power, he was replace by Yuan Shi-Kai at that period. The English letter feels like directly taken from computer fonts.
I thought it was Sun Yat-sen, too. I have a bunch of my parents’ old Chinese coins with Sun or Yuan Shi-kai on them. Hopefully not all of them are fake! Thanks for all of your responses!
