Searching on Heritage coming auction, I found out there is a rare republic coin from Colombia. In my opinion, it is the finest known I have ever seen, even in better condition than the other one in the same grade that was sold for around $10,575 USD in 2014. The coin I am talking about is 1832 Popayan Colombia 1/4 Real graded by NGC MS63. Looking closer on the date, it is obvious to be an overdate 1832/7. The photo I am posting is from Heritage Auctions, and out there are more beautiful coins from Latin America being auctioned on April. What are your opinions about this small jewel?
It is as 1832P 1/4 Real, and it has no price at any grade. It is not my coin, I wish it was in collection
It is a rare type in mint state and should attract collectors that are specialists in early Colombian minors as well as coin investors. I prefer crown sized coins and when I dream about acquiring a rare type I picture something like this:
That is a very rare coin, and I would certainly welcome it into my collection of Latin American early republican coinage. I focus primarily on Chile and Peru. This example reminds me of the Chile Cuartilla (1/4 Real) dated 1834. Cuartillas from 1832 and 1833 are relatively plentiful, whereas I believe I have only seen the 1834 once in more than 30 years.

True, it is a very rare coin. About the Chile 1/4 real, I haven't seen any on public sale, yet. South America early republic 1/4 real have beautiful designs. Another coin that I Like from this coming April Heritage Auction, is the 1838 La Rioja 8 Reales from Argentina, graded NGC MS63. They are usually offered with dark patina, but this one has full mint luster. I have seen another 63 sold before, but not as beautiful as this one with full mint luster and details. Early republic coins from Argentina are exceptional. Here is the photo of the 8 reales form Argentina. I think this auction have many interesting coins for sale.
That is a beautiful coin. I think it will fetch a very handsome price. As a matter of fact, almost all early republican Latin American issues have seen a tremendous increase in popularity (and price!) over the last decade.
That's true, they have become very popular and pricey compared to many years ago. Which early republic Latin American are you favorites?
I specially like Chile's Volcano coinage. This type, specifically the 1817 FJ was the first crown issued by Chile just after the wars of independence from Spain. The issue encompasses 1 Peso, and 2,1 and 1/2 reales.
